Description of the study programme
Physical therapy is a healthcare profession that has been growing intensely and demanding that physiotherapists implements the best possible professional practices in their work, based on scientific knowledge. The complexity of healthcare procedures, new methodologies and technologies call for the acquisition of additional skills and competencies.
Due to the demographic changes in the country, changes in the organisation of the healthcare system in the public and private health sectors, morbidity rates from chronic non-contagious diseases, as well as health tourism development, there is an increased need for experts educated to implement complex physiotherapy and rehabilitation procedures in accordance with the recommendations by the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT).
The university graduate study programme of Physical Therapy represents a vertical continuation of education, according to the Bologna principles and the European and global education standards of this occupation.
It comprises three key study areas: the fundamental biomedical science as the basis for understanding the process physical therapy implementation, the modern methodology and technology in physiotherapy, and the scientific evaluation of the existing and research into new physiotherapy methods related to disease, rehabilitation, prevention and enhancement of health.
The study programme conforms to the highest European standards and educational programmes at European higher education institutions, and it is highly student-centred.
Upon completion of the programme, the Master of Physical Therapy will have acquired the ability to provide complex physiotherapy procedures, to participate in the education of other physical therapists, to continue their own education, research and scientific activity in the area of biomedicine and healthcare.
